Peter Gilgan is the Founder & CEO of Mattamy Asset Management Inc., a firm he created in 2018 to build and hold a diversified portfolio of investments and businesses. Mattamy Asset Management is the parent company of Mattamy Homes, which Peter founded in 1978 and grew into the largest family-owned homebuilder in North America. Mattamy Homes operates across Canada and the United States, and every year helps more than 8,000 families realize their dream of home ownership.

Peter has received some of Canada’s highest honours in recognition of his impact on Canadian society.

  • Member of the Order of Canada (2013), for innovative leadership in Canada’s construction industry and philanthropic support of initiatives in health care, education and athletics (Peter was promoted to an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2020)
